I just used the scoop method from wyeast 1056 ale and scooped it into three new batches which are currently happily fermenting away after 4 days. Thanks for the advice.
Would it be an issue to wash the yeast after I bottle these batches?
No issue, it would be fine IMHO. I only re-use a yeast ...

Re: Yeast cake
Instead of using the entire yeast cake, scoop out a cup full (sanitised jug) and add that to a clean, sanitised fermenter (or clean the current fermenter). No CO2 required.
Exactly what I still do when I have a liquid or decent yeast on hand.
I even put mine in the fridge for a couple of weeks ...

Lisa,
My regulator has 'bar' and 'kpa' on it. If you have these readings on your regulator I suggest the following.
With beer cold, connect the gas and turn it up to 230kpa (2.3 bar) for 48 hours (beer cold) or 320 (3.2 bar) for 24 hours and this will be plenty IMHO. If it is too much, leave the ...

James Squire Pale Ale (150 lashes)
Ladies and Gents,
I remember the Pale Ale before they re-named it 150 lashes, good marketing.
I have just finished serving the 15 kegs of black, bitter, draught, light beers and Sparkling Ale (thanks Doc for the light recipe) for another wedding and was thinking of trying to replicate JSPA using ...

Re: Basic brewing instructions
When doing a brew, and you reach the bottling stage and you do find it to be bad smelling or just 'off', do you still bottle and hope or what? Also is it still drinkable, what i mean is whats the worst that could happen - the shits maybe?
Depends what the smell is like. Different yeasts ...

Re: How do you carbonate?
I have checked all of my kegs for leaks and haven't found anything.
The actual pressure gauge of the keg doesn't go down indicating pressure is being leaked.
Perhaps I need to gas my beer more initially?
Cheers,
Paul.

I have kegs now but still do a few in the longies.
I like the "traditional" look and feel of the longies.
If you are after longnecks cheap, keep an eye on ebay and the local rags as sometimes they come up.

Success....I just did HB for a wedding, YES a wedding.
I did 5 of the above "Tooheys Recipe" and 3 Morgans Bitter with 1.5kg of Morgans Liquid Malt and a Black.
All kegged and poured from 5 taps and a home made bar...home made spirits as well (not mine).
Draught went down well and the Black went ...

Should I transfer a little of the trub or absolutely none of it?

Go the big one.
Mine fits in my kegerator with 2 x 19 Litre Kegs, so it is not unsightly and a bottle lasts me about 5-6 Months.....sometimes less in summer.
