Clear softdrink bottles

Hi

A question. I know you don't brew beer to clear bottles, you use the brown ones, but can you brew alcoholic ginger beer to used softdrink bottles?

Thanks.

My friends and I loved them, and would love to know how they did it. They tasted rather good towards the end of the night if I remember correctly, but then we were drinking them topped up with black sambucca!

They had a distinct taste - I think I might throw some Bitters in with it to see ...

Thanks for everyone's input.

I think I will try the old "towel" method and give the lagers a miss 'till next winter. It was about as sophistocated as I wanted to go. I only wanted to go for maybe 3 or 4 moe weeks anyway. That'll last me 'til next winter.

Much appreciated.

Sub Zero equivilent

Any ideas for a recipe for an equivilent to the "Sub Zero"?

It was a rather successful "Alcoholic Soda Water" from the mid nineties.

I know it was actually brewed - I think by Carlton - it wasn't just a flavoured Vodka like most of the lolly waters of today.

How do you think they did it? It didn ...

Brisbane brewing

Hi

Just wondering what roughly the latest time in the year it is viable for a good brew in Brisbane. As you know Brisbane is neither in the south of Victoria, nor Tasmania. The days here are already starting to peak at 26 or 27, so how much time is it going to be worth bothering without going into ...

I think I know the ones - light blue, used for camping. Sitting in the fridge for some time, aren't they hard to clean the "ring" off the top inside? Or doesn't one form?

Lager Cube

Hi,

I have seen a few people mention a Lager Cube as part of their fermenter setup. What is it?

Thanks

I was going to try a 3 bucket system I saw on the net:

1. 1st Ferment - the really frothy vigorous stage
2. Syphon to a racking bucket after this settles down to the slower fermenting.
3. Start new 1st ferment after cleaning and sterilising fermentation equipment
3. At bottling stage, bulk prime to ...

Pails vs Carboys

I'm about to make my purchases and start brewing. I've done some research and there seems to be some debate as to which is better - carboy vs pail style fermenter.

I plan to buy 3 - 1 fermenter, 1 rack, and one bulk prime container.

Can everyone give me the benefits and detractions of each type so ...
