Re: Jelly like substance

Hi Elbow,
I have noticed a brew I put down last week has produced a krausen very similar to the one in your picture.
How did it turn out?
Not sure whether to waste any time/ further hops or to persist.
thanks,

Hi all,

"you'll get a better hop isomerisation / extraction efficiency by boiling the hops in a solution that has malt in it"
D'oh,
I may have read this a lot of times, I think not, but certainly this is the first time it has actually registered.

Air Still

I have been happily brewing away for a couple of years now, and enjoy both the resulting beer, and its cost benefits.
I have been looking at the Air Still as promoted by Brewcraft and wondered whether there was anybody out there who has one or has a comment?
thanks,

Re: why is it so or am I dreaming

Hi all,
I only use the brown pet bottles, and have only had one bottle bomb and it managed to do its thing in a mates truck ( he drinks it he has to carry at least some of it!).
I think what I might try is a variation on the champagne twirling thing i.e. give the bottles a bit of a spin and shake a ...

Re: Sparkling ALe?

I don't reckon you can go past coopers recipe i.e can of sparkling, can of malt, 500 grams of malt (dry) and some pride of ringwood dry hopped.
tastes grouse!

Hi all,
I have tried the Cooper's website recipe i.e....
1.7kg Premium Selection Sparkling Ale
1.5kg Thomas Coopers Light Malt Extract
500g Coopers Light Dry Malt

with I think a reasonable amount of success.
My only addition to it is some pride of ringwood hops after about ...

Using Improzyme Liquid - to bottle or not to bottle?

Hi All,
have had a couple of goes with the dry enzyme powder and with the experience from the first brew and some ideas from this forum got the message loud and clear that you had to wait until the final gravity is 1000.
No explosions as I used pet bottles but pretty exciting when you opened the ...

I rinse them thoroughly after emptying - three times - last rinse I leave 25 mm of water in bottom - then I put the cap on and store upright until I am ready to wash and bottle again.
have fun,

2. soak in wash trough with hot water and very very generous slug of non perfumed whiteking.
3. rinse with clean water that has been used to ...
