Can you store beer on its side in say a wine rack or is that a no no? I have about a dozen milk crates down in the wine celler of my brews

I use neopink, smells like its chlorine based, i was told by the HB guy that Metabisulfate smelt of rotten egg and is really only needed in wine making plus the extra time and rinsing required sucks the fun out of homebrew

I got 30 PET bottles with my brew kit but plan on using glass in the future is it ok to use them for my first brew? does it change the beers charactheristics? does it keep for as long? the video said the bottles "come sterlised" how can that be?
