This is one of my favourites. It's from the HB&B Q&A section;

1 can Cooper's Pilsner
1.2kg light dried or liquid malt
40g Saaz hop pellets
METHOD
Add 200g of the malt and 20g of the hop pellets to 2 litres water. Bring to the boil and simmer for 20 minutes. Be careful it doesn't boil over, as ...

Carpet Cleaning and Corny Kegs!!

Hi All

I don't post all that often, but today I have witnessed something disturbing and I have to vent...

We had our carpet cleaned at home today to get rid of 3 years of toddler filth. The guy comes and starts spraying all the bad spots in the carpet (there's heaps). He's spraying out of a ...

1 can Cooper's Pilsner
1.2kg light dried or liquid malt
40g Saaz hop pellets
METHOD
Add 200g of the malt and 20g of the hop pellets to 2 litres water. Bring to ...

Thank you NTR...

Is that because alpha acids are a measurement of bitterness? And to extract bitterness you need to boil for a while?

Does it also stand to reason that the best flavour/aroma hops are those with low alpha acids?

To return to the original point of the thread I am going to hang on ...

HBS Hops Advice??

Hi

Went to my local HBS to pick up some stuff for a JS Amber Ale. Plan to use Morgans Royal Oak Amber, Morgans Amber Liquid malt and a Willamette hops bag.

Anyway, the guy says we're out of Willamette bags at the moment but just use Tettnanger. He says its all about alpha acid and Willamette and ...

I live in Newcastle and one of suburban newspapers called the Post has a treasure trove, where you can advertise to sell something for free as long as the price is under $50. I notice from time to time that people advertise long necks in there. I recently picked up 120 for 30c each. They came in ...

I generally don't use one for the reasons already stated. Alco content is generally a given (or close enough with K&K) and if you brew in primary for a week, then rack to secondary for a week that's plenty of time for the brew to fully ferment out - no risk of shed grenades.

BUT

Having said that I ...

Thanks for the opinions. After hearing your comments I don't think I'll do anything other than employ the HB&B mantra;

"Don't worry. It'll be OK. Have another beer" :D

Hi Guys, Great site. I have a related question.

What do you do to protect your beer (the stuff you've already bottled) during the warmer months? I do my brewing down the back shed, which is made from Western Red Cedar. Great in winter but it resembles a sauna during the summer months. I could move ...
