Re: 2011 Xmas in July Lotto Draw

Re: Secondary fermentation: "cubitainer?"

My 2c worth,

Havent considered this, but sounds a good idea.

2- Enough co2 will come out during sec transfer to put a co2 seal above the wort, so not sure if you would need to do a small sugar prime.

My only concern would be how would you ...

Re: 2011 Xmas in July Lotto Draw

You're right Earle,

But I just feel like crap for not sending it off sooner.

... although Sonny is now getting a nicely aged stout instead of whatever was ready at the time.

Will join in another lotto in a while.

Cheers,
Chris

Re: Happy Accident

Not too good on words mate, but i would say the flowers are more aromatic, and nicer than my first years home grown cascade flowers, which I still very much liked.

The flowers are probably more of a citrus taste and aroma, and very very clean, they sort of hit you as really fresh tasting.
A real ...

Re: Happy Accident

I still do that recipe as my favourite, and I will highly recommend that you purchase some cascade flowers instead of pellets, i got some ...

Re: Best brewing software

Hi Jeff,
The aa% of hops changes with different growers / seasonally etc, so you do need to be able to change the settings to match the hops that you purchased, or your IBU's will be out.

cheers,

Re: Hop Rhizomes - Wanted

Have a look for ''hopswest'

I grew my first lot last year, and its pretty easy, got all my hops from there, got great information with them.

I think they are a bit of a weed, and you have to stuff up an fair bit to have a poor return.

I put in 2 cascade, 1 hallertue and 4 chinook rhizomes ...

Re: how to malt barley

Well,
I finally started malting the barley last Thursday, and its about 2 days away from drying time.
have set up a box with a hot air gun and my ubeaut temp controller so it should be easy to dry.

I will take some measurements and let you all know how efficiency etc goes when I do my first brew ...
