Evolving Stout

Brew gurus , just want to run this recipe by you .
1 x Coopers Stout tin
100gm crystal malt steeped for 30 min .
100gm choc malt steeped for 30 min .
100gm oats steeped for 30 min .
25gm Goldings hops 30 minute boil .
10gm fuggles added last 5 minutes of the boil .
1kg DDME .
10ml liquorice extract ...

The Weihenstephaner bottles are perfect few homebrew and like u found it hard to get enough , over the past 12 months I've collected about 100 of them . I'm in Margaret River where they cost $5.00 each , so I've been averaging 2 a week which isnt too bad , love the beer so its a win win ..lol

Hiya fellow brewers , I'm thinking of putting together a Choc honey porter and had this recipe in my head . Let me know what you think and if i should modify any portion .

400gm yellow box honey

All seemed fine

Bottled the 2 brews last Mon and Tues all seemed fine no stale smell , yeast cake looked fine , brew was settled . Strange one , got me beat .

How does this sound ?

Brewcraft Bavarian wheat kit
1 kg liquid wheat malt
500gm LDME
250gm Dex
250gm Corn Syrup
350gm Honey
20gm Saaz hops
Orange rind from 2 oranges
Boiled for 50 minutes (except kit and honey )
Orange rind boiled added to the boil @ 20 minute mark (30 minute boil time) .
O.G 1060
Safale/wheat K-97 yeast ...

I took an SG reading lastnight , both sitting around 1016 from about 1060 from memory , so i'de say that they are ready . Will check again 2night and if the same into the bottle they will go . Had a taste last night when checking SG , very tastey.......Looking forward to tasting these after been in ...

Fermenting time

Hey fellow brewers , was just wondering if anyone else has experienced an unusually long ferment time ? . Have 2 stouts going at the moment that have been bubbling away for almost 3 weeks ??(Down to about one bubble every hour) .The recipes are as follows

Weihenstephan hefe

Tried a few bottles of Weihenstephan Hefe on the weekend and was blown away , truly delightful to the last drop . Has anyone tried to emulate this brew ? , or has anyone have any ideas on where to begin with a close replica ? . Cheers

Thanks guys , just finished putting that brew down , smelt superb while everything was boiling and steeping , the missus didnt think so although she is pregnant . Does anyone else find there significant other complaining about the smell , especially hops ? . Just thought i'de ask . Thanx lethal :)

Hey fella's thinkin about put this stout down in the near future (tonight) , what do ya think ?

150g choc malt steeped for 30 mins
250g dry wheat malt
25g golding hops ( not sure about boil time on these ? 20 minutes ? any ideas?)

Thinkin of putting down a Bock ive got sitting around , have a brewmaster irish stout mix i was thinking about putting in with it and perhaps some choc malt grains . Anyone put down an exceptional Bock that you would recommend ?

Found U brew it in Busselton and grabbed some chocolate malt grains there plus some westbrew stout booster packs . Couldnt resist grabbing a Black Rock Bock kit too , i've got a westbrew irish stout mix sitting in the cupboard , how would this go with the Bock ? . I've got 125gm of choc malt grains ...

Chocolate malt grains in stout

Could one of you wise brewmasters ( suck suck grovel) advise me on how to best utilise some choc malt grain in a stout or bock ie boil time, temp etc . Ive got 500gms sitting here i want to use in a Bock and or Stout kit , nothing like a nice black beer for chrissy lol :wink: .

Well guys , almost finished drinking the Coopers lager and i must admit it turned out to be quite a descent drop . Crisp and clean with a nice bite , damn refreshing , ive got a pilsner bubbling away in the fermenter and another stout ready to go . I live in Margaret River W.A so brew ingredients ...
