thanks for the advice, I was planning on doing it similar to what you suggested rwh, but pinching the sides and using the bottling tool still, since I KNOW i'll make a mess doing it straight siphon. I think that'll be more hygenic than sucking and disenfecting.

siphon bottling
On the weekend I did two stupid things. On friday I racked my LCPA clone into a fermenter without a tap (i left the screw in stopper when I sanitised). Then on sunday I made a wheat beer.
Since I only have two fermenters I now cannot re-rack the LCPA into the first fermenter for bottling, and I'd ...

yeah i had considered that, but i was planning on using some of it for a manifold, and I was a little worried about shipping prices to perth from G&G.
I might give them a call and get one of the stainless steel false bottoms at the same time once I get my kegs opened up. I'll just have to see what ...

thanks for the advice, it does look like Reece is the way to go, I was quoted $61 per 6m length so it sounds like prices have gone up a bit, but it's a far cry from what bunnings had on offer. I'll probably get a pair of those and join 8-10m and use the remainder for a manifold.

Starting to gather AG/Partial equipment
Thanks to all you bloody guys on here I'm just going to have to try AGs or partials sometime, even if I am still new to all this. The extra control and participation sounds like just the sort of thing for me to kill half a day or so on.

Ok to bottle?
My second brew went down on saturday, a Kilkenny clone (brewcraft box, with muntons gold yeast) and it has stopped on 1016 FG (for the last day and a bit, SG was 1047 and expected FG was supposed to be 1010-1012). I was going to bottle yesterday since It was two days in a row, but I decided to give ...

I put the can and dex into the fermenter and filled it up to the 23L mark, so it's not that. I did think the 1030 was too low at the time since I had read 1040 is about average, in hindsight i'll definately add malt to get that up a bit next time I make that brew.

First brew
I've finally gotten round to getting the gear organised and started with my first bew (and a big thanks to the guy in the Westbrew Joondalup store on saturday).
I started with the generic can+dex+water kit that came with the starter kit, and so far it seems to be ok (no funky smells or green ...
