Re: Coffee Addition to a Stout

That looks sensational Doc! I'm guessing that head is from a keg and not bottled?
Looks like a pint of beamish.

That would go good with a mince pie :-)

Re: Coffee Addition to a Stout

Cheers Rotten,

Have a small amount of lactose leftover somewhere. Would it be sickly to add 100g to the wort to give a very-very subtle cafe-latte flavour?

Again, I'm after an variation on an Irish style stout to remind me of Christmas back in Ireland. Thanks again in advance :-)

Coffee Addition to a Stout

For my next brew was putting down 2 can Coopers Stout & Coopers Dark Ale, with Fuggles for Christmas drinking.

Have enjoyed the coffee aromas of Murphy's Irish Stout and was wondering if anyone has added coffee in some way to a stout? Was aiming more for subtle aroma and sweetness rather than ...

Re: Reusing yeast cake?

Thanks Warra.

Went ahead and transferred Pils to a 25l cube, pitched Lager wort right onto the yeast cake, within a half an hour it was bubbling away contentedly.

That's the quickest reaction I've seen :D Best part is I now have two beers on the go at the same time.

Awesome.

I have a batch of ...

Reusing yeast cake?

Hey guys.

Realised its too cold in my house at the moment for ale, so started into using lager yeasts. Did an ESB kit Czech Pils for the first time with no extras, seems to be nearly ready and was wondering if I could pitch straight onto the yeast cake with a Coopers Eurolager, BE1 and Cascade hop ...

Re: Schofferhofer from K & K

Thanks a lot guys. Your wisdom is always welcome.

One last question:
I really wanted to try crystal after reading about it on this sight, is that unnecessary in this case too?

P.S. Also realise I should have posted this in the recipes section. Oops....

Re: Schofferhofer from K & K

Thanks mate. 'scuse my ignorance but WB06 is an ale yeast? Is it too cold right now if my fermenting spot is 14ish degrees?

Also are there any hops needed in this style?

Schofferhofer from K & K

Hi everyone,

Have been enjoying the forum for months now, and as a novice brewer have learned heaps so far (and also expanded my horizons in the bottleshop). Having done only about 5 brews so far (including the lager included in the Coopers kit.)

While still using kits so far - with extras I've ...
