grabbie, really, if you're desperate for bottles, just wait until the next garbage/recycling day, walk around and find the houses that had a party over the weekend, or ask a restaurant/pub, take the bottles, soak in bleach for a day, and then use.

Depending on what you use to prime your bottles, keep in mind that a lot of measurers are made for 375 and 750 ml bottles - so if you prime a 640ml with sugar for a 750ml bottle, drink it ...

as above, the secondary's benefit is to get the beer off the trub, but if you bottle straight after primary it doesn't make much difference. The clearing, on the other hand, is very obvious. When you rack to secondary, let it sit for a week, you'll be surprised at the amount of sediment that will be ...

I usually leave in primary for one week then transfer via hose to secondary for another week. At this point I bulk prime and bottle. Can someone enlighten me as to why I should transfer back into primary again? Ta heaps

extract works fine, heaps of recipes around, you can bitter to your own taste, but it takes an hour's boil instead of just throwing the kit in or doing a 10 min boil. You can do something that tastes better than K+K.

A coarser Cascade pellet caused no end of problems when filling bottles, blocking the valve on the end of the filler tube. A finer Saaz pellet looks like tiny grey flakes floating in ...
