Re: Gas, Keg's and the great Furphy
I dont play with the beer line length. 3 metres of 5mm ID beer line will pour any beer at any carbonation.
Ive been to plenty of pubs here with 30 beers of all different styles on tap and havent seen them yet.

Sounds like you need a dual reg to me Smurto for what you are trying to achieve.
As a starting point 100kpa is the go for carbonation. For pommie beer lower your carbonation pressure a bit.

Re: What regulator?
Just get a single reg and later you can add another reg to it to make it a dual. Its cheaper to do it this way that buy a dual reg.
Buy a micromatic reg from Andale. They're about $80.

Re: Quantity of Beer in Kegs
When you first get a keg setup you will drink double or triple what you are drinking now. Start brewing and having as much in cc as you can so that when a keg blows youve already got beer chilled and ready to go into it.

Re: Large electricty bill due to my brewing...
If you want to save some money on running fridges in the shed for brewing try replacing them all with chest freezers.
When I was using a fridge for kegging it would take 24 hours to get a 20 degrees brew down to 4 degrees for drinking. My chest freezer will do this in six hours.

On my reg I can unscrew the adjusting setscrew all the way out. If yours can be removed give it a buff on a wire wheel to clean it up.
Once its set to pouring pressure it doesnt need to be adjusted anyway.

Re: Kegging Beer
If your getting into this dont try and carbonate your beer up to 140 - 160 kpa. It'll be fizzy like Coke.
About 80 - 90 kpa will get you a beer like at the pub.
Use 5mm beer line about 3mm long to get a steady pour speed.
Good luck with it.

Re: Fibreglass it?
If its outside id recommend getting a chest freezer. They're much better insulated and will cool down a warm keg less than half the time that a fridge does. This wil be heaps cheaper to run than a fridge.
A fridge really struggles outside in the heat where a chest freezer doesnt.

Back in the day I was a Vb drinker, until it started giving me a headache after only a couple. I switched to Carlton Draught and the problem went away for about a year before I experienced the same.

I dont have a pic of the fermenter but i just cut the top out with a 4inch grinder with a megaline blade in it. The glass lid is from a saucepan.

Re: Couldn't help myself
Good stuff, it looks really good. Just make sure that youve got 3 metres of 5mm beer line going to each tap so that you have a balanced system and not have to play with the reg all the time.
Then the fun begins. you have to drink lots of kegs to get your carbonation technique right.

Re: How long does a fermenter last?
Ive always wondered this as my fermenter smelt really plasticy when you put boiling water into it and would often smell like sanitiser. Getting the insides of the tap clean and the threads of it was a pain also.
So

Its just a suggestion but have you thought of raising the fridge up so rather than have beer line expose the excess line is inside of the fridge where its nice and cold.

Re: lots of head and still not happy
To carbonate a keg I rack the warm beer into the keg then hook up the gas.
Put the reg at 300kpa and rock it 100 times and then put the beer into the fridge.
Once the beers cold it should still be slightly under carbed but good to drink. After a day or 2 at pouring pressure it will have come up to ...

I went through a couple of pairs when I was a kid. They were a good show to wear to school and save the Adidas Romes for the weekend.
