Re: No fermentation - or is there?

Huh. Thanks... that's positive news!! The stuff tastes great straight out of the hydrometre! :D Aiming for a kind of LCPA/SNPA sort of thing...

I thought of the leak factor, but the gentlest push raises the water in the lock. Still possible tho i suppose.

Also, although I thought that the ...

No fermentation - or is there?

Hi all, a crucial step slipped my mind and am now paying the price. Can anyone please advise given the following:

I brewed a kit of Coopers Canadian Blonde, with:

1KG LDME
1kg grain and grape blend (500gm Dex, and 500gm LDME) (I know, a lot of sugar, but I just kept pouring)
Cascade and Amarillo ...

Re: Twomey T Brewing Co. mysterioso

Update. The "Abbotsford Blogger" (sounds a bit like a serial killer moniker from a 70's slasher flick :) ) has written back to say:

"No idea either, and also intrigued! Perhaps I will put a post up (on abbotsford blog) searching for further information."

all for now, more if i hear.

Re: Twomey T Brewing Co. mysterioso

Yeah, I'm still curious about it.

I looked again at that flickr photo I linked to earlier, and the only development there is that it's now appended to a blog, called "abbotsfordblogger" who seems to know and track all things Abbotsfordian.

So I've written him to ask if he has any other info about ...

I made a Coopers Cerveza clone of the Corona and it had a fairly nice head on it. Though I did add 1.5KG of LDME and 250g each of lactose and dry corn syrup. Turned out quite nice!

How close was it to a bottle of Corona? I haven't attempted one yet, but would like to. The main reason i haven't ...

I actually wanted to try these a few months back (i have a similar background to your kevinlis) and was really pleasantly surprised by the results... found several recipes on the net.

The one i used is different to yours, not that yours wouldn't work out ... one point in mine that I never would ...

Something that seems to have gone missing from the discussion are two fairly critical points in regard to the "research". Well actually more than two, but consider this:

Nowhere do I see any credentials for the experts' 'expertise'. They just keep referring to them as "experts." What the?? "Hi, I'm ...

Just one more post on this while it's still a live topic... I did pull my bottled bunch out of the cold shed, and let them warm up for a few days to get the carbonation happening... worked a treat. Totally changed my perspective on the drinkability of this batch, and i'm back to being very happy ...

OK, I did attempt this, per rwh's guidelines, a couple months back. It's not the greatest, but it might be due to its still being too early to really judge properly

I worked hard to control the temperature for a lager, and am pretty confident that I kept it around 12-14 deg. for the duration of ...

Twomey T Brewing Co. mysterioso

So, i'm bringing my kid back from dumplings and noodles in abbotsford, and on the way back, we're stopped at the light at Johnson and Hoddle street - on Johnson, heading west.

I look out the passenger window, and there stuck on a narrow chain link fence is a little sign that reads "TWOMEY T ...

bottles don't really need to soak in a steriliser, do they? Just a bit of a rinse and a shake should do it? I sometimes wonder if i leave the water in long enough for the steriliser to do its job ...

Sorry, is this meant to be a SNPA AE recipe? If so, I have one here:

yeah, that's the one I sort of followed. went with a can of amber malt rather than the crystal etc in interest of time, but otherwise followed that. Looking forward to seeing if ...

For the one I just bottled last night, I sort of winged it, and banged together a shitload of LDM, some liquid Amber malt extract, and scary amounts of cascade hops and nearly as much Perle. Also think I had a leftover bag of coopers brew enhancer laying around so it went in too...I'm not as ...

Kangarool,

Yes it is possible to collect yeast from primary, simply do it after fermentation is complete, when you're bottling or kegging.
AC

great thanks AC that's what i was looking for. So, after separating the trub and the suspended yeast, simply keep/store the yeast in a few clean stubbies ...

last batch, i ran out of coopers carbonation drops halfway through, so had to pull out the sugar bowl and funnel... made it more unwieldy and felt less certain that I was going to get a consistent level of carbonation. We'll see in a couple months, but i won't forget to buy the little sugar pills ...

And just to clarify one thing, because it looks like my previous question is answered by the very starter post in this thread.

I think it's not, and here's why i asked the question i did: the first part of the initial post goes "If you harvest yeast from the primary fermentor, you will need to ...

Re: yeast starter

For those of us who are budget minded, you might also want to consider how to make your Wyeast smack packs and Whitelabs tubes last much longer...Simply swirl to re-suspend the yeast and decant the yeast starter you make into 6 or more stubbies, top up with cool pre-boiled water, cap and put in ...

great, thanks guys. I've haven't yet worked with crystal grain but have wanted to look into it, so this may be the experiment to start with. I need to learn some more about them and how best to work with so will start there. Thanks again, very helpful.

Thanks, I will try it. Isn't there a bit of amber-ness to it? Would a can of Amber LME help out, or overkill? Sorry going from memory of Sierra Nevada, 10+ years ago now.
