Re: hydroperoxide used as a sanitizer
A couple of the chain store 'homebrew suppliers' have a hydrogen peroxide based sanitiser. It's 3% hydrogen peroxide.

Mat, what's you're fermentation regime? It's an interesting choice of brew coming into the cooler months.
edit: apologies for the fermentation question. I've re-read your post and noticed you are yet to decide on yeast and all that.

bullfrog if this is how you brew you are wasting yeild
repeat this for the last time DONT mix the bed when it it set
just add your second batch of water
now do you understand the science of sparging
you gain nothing by aggitating the grain in fact all you are doing is adding more time to the brew ...

Re: HELP! Am I over sparging? Sollutions?
Hirns, if we are now looking at this as a possible issue with oxidation, is there a possibility the keg/s have a small leak? You say the problem seems more noticeable in the kegged beer than the bottled beer so I was wondering whether the beer is being exposed to additional oxygen in the keg ...

Re: What are you drinking now?
Like Warra, I had a Franziskaner Dunkelweizen on the weekend. I agree with his assessment. I drank it after a couple Brewdog Punk IPAs. I've had this beer a few times before and found it a bit hit and miss, most likely due to poor handling. The beers on the weekend were the freshest and best Punk ...

Re: Have a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
Bum, is the party trick the one where a person pushes their arm up from their side under resistance from another person's hand? If it is then it is most certainly a trick of bio-mechanics. When it's done well, take note of the person's (the one providing the resistance) spare hand. Without the ...

Re: maturing kegs temperature
Seeing as it is already carbonated, leave it in the fridge. It will mature fine at 6c. The only reason for removing it from the fridge would be a lack of fridge space.

I'm not a doctor but I'll still have a go. This is a beer that has changed a bit over the years so this is merely an exercise in approximation. Aim for an O.G of around 1050. Your choice of English base malt but Maris Otter is probably your best bet. A small percentage (3%-5%) of dark crystal in the ...

Re: The Wicked Ale day
Hi everyone, I've just looked through this thread as it's my first day here. Speedie, it looks like a fun day of brewing. One thing to note for future brew days is to keep an eye on the kettle as it approaches the boil as this may help avoid the boil over you seem to have suffered. Once again, it ...
