Re: I know this could be a very stupid question, but...

Thanks. I was pretty sure it was the liquid but I wanted to be 100% certain and not assume.

I'm not sure about the exact temp of the water. The recipe wasn't that specific so would have gone a bit higher than 68C.

One other point worth asking before I do the entire recipe - the shop sold me ...

Re: Why won't my beers carbonate?

OK, some more progress. I've got it hooked up again and have a beer that is carbonated. Still get a bit of head on the beer but this is much improved.

I'm at the homebrew store on Friday and will pick up a longer beer line. I'd say I currently have a 2m of line so will buy 4m and if I need to, I ...

Re: Why won't my beers carbonate?

I've taken the keg off the gas again and will purge again.

How long do I need to leave this out the fridge and off the gas for. It's been out all day; I purged it when I went to work and checked again when I came home but nothing comes out the cylinder.

It has been quite cool here today (4C to ...

Re: Why won't my beers carbonate?

Hi,

I degassed my keg over the weekend and have tried again with a lower pressure. I still have a foamy beer but it is somewhat better than before - I now get half a glass of beer and half of foam.

I've taken the keg off the gas again and will purge again.

Unfortunately, I'm out of other homebrew ...

Re: Why won't my beers carbonate?

What I understood from what I'd read was that the foamy beer was due to a difference in pressure in the beer and the cylinder.

I don't understand that but I'm here to learn.

So I do I rectify that and get to a properly carbonated beer?

Why won't my beers carbonate?

Hi,

I've kegged a second batch of beer and have tried once again to carbonate the beer in the keg. My problem is that despite trying all the methods I can find on the forums, I cannot get my beer to carbonate.

The first attempt at kegging was a honey wheat beer. This stayed in the keg for a few ...

That really is bad with food.

I've found this site:

http://www.foodauthority.nsw.gov.au/consumer/

and also this one:

http://www.foodstandards.gov.au/

Not 100% certain if they would be interested in out of date beer. Perhaps if that shop still has the dodgy baby food you can report them?

Out of date beer

Apologies if this is the wrong forum but this question is about commercial beer.

I bought a six pack of Little Creatures Rogers beer from my local bottle shop approx 6 weeks ago. An off taste was noted in the first beer and as this was present in the second bottle opened, I looked at the date. This ...

Thanks for all the replies. I didn't think this was going to be that bad; I'd just like to learn from my mistakes.

The links provided have all been really useful too; bookmarked and will print and read the Norm Pyle's page for reference.

I'm having a go at the wheat beer with honey tonight.

Now ...

The 60 minute addition is really your only concern but i wouldnt worry to much as it will only be a little more bitter than the original recipe

Sorry, not sure I follow. Is that the addition of the hops or the extract?

If the hops I have are 7.9%, how do I calculate the correct amount to ...

Hi,

I brewed this up last night, only my third go at homebrew but looking forward to this.

I got the recipe off the Rob Log web site.

I have a couple of questions though:

The Goldings I got from my local store show as Goldings 7.9% Alpha but now looking at this thread I can see the AA as 5.8 ...

After quite a bit of searching I found an online store in North Sydney who posted it today so I can brew this weekend.

I found it odd that some of the stores I frequent stock most of the Muntons Connoisseur range but not this wheat product?!?!?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi,

I'm very interested in doing this beer but struggling to find Muntons Connoisseur Wheat Beer locally or via the online stores I've used.

Where do you get this from in NSW?

Thanks,

Chris
