Re: Nooby question - mini brew using 1/2 tins?

...I'm not a huge beer drinker and take a while to get through 30 longnecks I was wondering is it possible to brew 1/2 a kit at a time?

wow

I was wondering the exact opposite:

Is it time to move on to a 50L fermenter?

Yeah, me too, they have 60ltr fermenters at the ...

I used to go crazy on the sanitization of fermenters, carboys etc until I watched my friend who has been brewing for 10 years. He mearly swished about a litre of water in the fermenter, drained, wiped the scum off the inside with a cloth, threw some one step sanitizer in with about another litre of ...

Hi Ash,

They have Sars in my local HBS! Have only had it a couple, maybe 3 months. So it is around and available. Haven't tried it yet, but I will soon I think. It's in a purple & white cardboard 'tin'.

I read a story on the internet a few years ago about a guy who tried to make green cordial ...

I always wondered, if one of my brews did overheat and die, would it just be as simple as waiting for it to cool down again and chucking in another yeast?

Still can't bring myself to pick up a Tooheys though.

Mate, and you would drink Victorian beer the like of which they don't dare replicate as home brew because they know no-one would buy it. Probably more the point, home brewers would quite possibly make VB better than it is as a ...

Keg priming

Simple question, I did a 'serch' as our old friend the Munkey would say, but I'm none the wiser. Do I have to prime a keg to get carbonation or will the gas do the carbonation for me?

Never had a bad one yet. Try em all I reckon. Some are better than others, but it's beer so it's all good every time!

Seriously, even the home brands are OK with a bit of malt and a few hops added. Still can't bring myself to pick up a Tooheys though.

Just did my first Coopers Cerveza. Very strange phenomenon. Been in the primary for 16 days. Started at 1043. Been stuck at 1012 for at least a week and still tastes really sweet. I mean 'it hurts my teeth' sweet! Not game to bottle it, I think it's not 'finished'. I might go and get another yeast ...

A man walks into a bar. As he passes the cigarette machine, he hears it say, "You smell bad and you are ugly". Then he hears a voice apparently coming from a nearby plate of peanuts. "You really are a very handsome young man" the nuts claim.

The man turns to the bartender and asks for an ...

Just the yeast that came with the brew. Wasn't sure whether I should try anything else or what to use.

Priming was just the standard I use with all my brews, the old Wander measuring scoop, think it's 2 tsp per 750ml, plain white sugar.

About 3/4 carbonated I reckon. Always bottle a couple in PET ...
