I discovered that a local (for me) company in Mittagong malts wheat and supplies a number of companies ( and a friend tells me Little Creatures ) with some ingredients. How Long Will Crushed Grain Last
Dont want to buy a mill till I know all grain is really for me. If I buy my grain crushed and store it in food grade white buckets, how long will it last me

Test batches- whats size do you use
Made some great brews over the last 18 months - also made some duds. Decided that I need to brew more batches of smaller sizes to refine technique and experiment. Id be interested in hearing what size others use for testing and can I still use my 25 litre fermenter or do I need a smaller one

Nelson Sauvin- request for ale recipe
Thanks for the recipes for NS Lager- I made one 3 weeks ago from recipies on this board and it is an amazing beer. Now that the weather here in Bowral has warmed up I want o try a NS ale. Anyone got any recipies. Am not full grain yet so an extract or kit with additions would be a great help.

I saw months agosomewhere on the net instructions for how to put a tap in a brewpot. Now I am reay to do it I cant find the site. Does anyone have good instructions or know of a site that has pictures.

I use one sachet of safale 34/70 per 23 litres of wort. Pitch at 20-21c then cool to 11c when krausen appears. Takes 2 weeks to ferment out. Works fine every time.

Using an old keg
A friendly publican gave me an old keg- can it be used to brew double batches? Someone told me that some guys had worked out a way to cut the top out and fix a lid. would like advice on how this is done.

If you look on youtube there are a couple of videos on how to remove the valve properly first. Use keywords sankey kev remove valve. The best on id actually an Aussie (surprise surprise and uses a drill bit first. I followed it exacally and it took me 2 minutes. Saves a beer bath( I had that too but ...

Thanks guys for the advice- as a cook who uses yeast a lot in the kitchen , I had a feeling that careful handling of liquid starters could extend life by a great deal.
