I've tried Beer Alchemy and Beer Tools Pro, both are native mac.
I'm not sure either way yet, both have their pro's and cons, but am leaning toward Beer Tools Pro.

Re: Metallic flavour through beers
How does your water taste at the tap from which you are filling your fermenter?
Sometimes old pipes can impart metallic flavours into water. If this is the case you could fix the water with a Britta active charcoal filter.

Re: Help low cal home brew .
Hi all.
I was also thinking about how to lower the calories in my beer this weekend.
I was enjoying my latest batch, when it occurred to me that all of my brews are more full bodied than most beers that I don't brew.
Firstly, is it true that full bodied = higher FG = more unfermented sugars = more ...

Local tap water tastes grim, is RO the answer?
Well, I'm fairly new to all of this, but so far (and thanks to your help in the early days) things have been going great.
So great, in fact that my only complaint with my two most recent brews is the presence of a flavor that comes from our tap water supply. It's a kind of metallic chemically taste ...

Re: Thoughts on Dave's Stove Top Brewery kits?
I'm a relative beginner, 5 brews to my name; I've tried two of these kits, the APA and the Heffeweisen.
The APA turned out much like you describe yours. I left it in the fermenter at 18 degrees for two weeks, then bottled it and started drinking it after three more. It's been in the bottle for ...

Re: Tips for a new keg setup.
Thanks. So if I dispense with sodastream it'd still be a good idea to have a big CO2 bottle around for carbonating beer, cleaning kegs etc?

Tips for a new keg setup.
Hello all!
Haven't spent much time lurking here lately but a few of you blokes helped me out a great deal with my first brews, late last year. Since then I've managed to find a bit of quality in my beer, main benefits have been a wine cooler for stable fermentation temperatures ($125 from Target ...

Thanks all for the great advice! Especially those words of encouragement; that was potentially a demotivating moment :)
I vowed to keep brewing until I can make beer that's better than any slab thats available in the bottleshop. (and to be honest, I don't think that's an unreasonable goal?)
So - I ...

Thanks fellas
Thanks - at least I'm on the right track!
How can I tell if the second batch is going to be worth bottling?
(I'd almost rather bin it and start again if it's going to taste like I made it in the rubbish bin...)
Cheers

My first brew smells like cider, was it the temperature?
Hello there,
I just tried my first bottle from my first batch. It looks like beer, has a head like beer, and more-or-less tastes like beer... only the smell, well it smells a little like cider!
It does has a slightly cidery taste, but it's only a hint - but the main thing is the smell. Could it be ...
