Re: is 1019 too high?

In theory, more stuff in solution = a higher gravity reading. My guess would be that his stirring it up (why would he do that?!) put yeast and sediment back into solution and therefore made the liquid "heavier."

Robbo
I am about into 10months of brewing and brewed my first lager (pilsener) in winter (ferm temp 16) the same thing happened to me, very slow however after 2 - 3 days was bubbling nicely. Unlike the ales I had done previously had to wait the full 2 weeks before bottling.

Couldn't wait for ...

Thanks for this. I put the brew down and had to go travelling for work. My wife gladely rang me and mentioned it had started bubbling after about 2 days. Very eggy smell although I have read this is OK.

Re: advice

Newbie with lots of questions.

After i have bottles my brews and have had them sit there for roughly 2 weeks before drink. I seem to be getting a lot of white (Yeast??) residue on the lower side of the bottle (i.e.Standing up on the bottom lying down on the side). This doesn't spoil the beer in ...

I brewed a Queensland Gold batch for a friend(i am sorry but that is what he wanted) this was my 3rd brew. We bottled it and he has stored it on the side which has produced some white type residue and the beer when stirred taste very sweet. I haven't had this problem before. Is this ...

Re: At 1008, brew still sweet?

Newbie also

What are the downside to bottling 2 early. My first batch (Munich Lager)I only checked the SG when finished and it read 1010 and then bottled, the beer tasted fine (good luck rather then good management I think). 2nd brew I checked twice and it went from 1010 to 1008 and then I bottle ...

Grolsch Flip Top Bottles

Am new to this brew scene (2nd brew on now). I have just purchased a number of Grolsch 473ml green bottles. Is there anything out of the ordinary that I need to look for with these i.e. Clealeness, seals etc. I have been told they are the easier bottes to brew with is this true?

Any advise is good ...
