Re: Staropramen

Another excellent drop. It has been many many years since I had some. As for the czechs and birthplace of pilsner they take their beer very seriously. It is a way of life. Every town has its own brewery, during the day you would drink lighter beers, in the evening you go and catch up with your mates ...

Re: Amsterdam Mariner

In the old days before I started HB, the mariner was my pick over the VB or West End Draught in value for money and taste. Just couple of days ago I tasted my very first lager. Ok, it took me more than 3 weeks to ferment it and lager at 2 C for another 3 weeks but at the end I couldn't believe the ...

Re: Coopers European Lager

The kit does use the S-189. I've just bottled my first one today. As I wasn't sure about the kit yeast I've used Saf-23. Only used 1.5 LME with Saaz (25 grm @ 20 min, 10 gms at flame out and dry hopped with 15 gms), fermented at 10 C, dyacetill rest, racked it and CC for 21 days at 2 C. Just bottled ...

Re: Bottling at 2C. How much sugar to prime?

Thanks for the info. Since it fermented at about 10 C I decided to bottle straight from the freezer at about 2 C only using one carbonation drop. See how it goes. Tasted some out of the fermenter and taste wise it was allready half carbed up. Being an all malt kit (Coopers European Lager + LME and ...

Re: Tooheys kits

Not long ago Big W had Tooheys kits on special so I gave them a go. The tooheys lager I've only used a kilo of dex. Compared to Coopers Lager with a kilo of dex nothing special. I would ditch the kit tooheys yeast which I did for another tooheys drought and better results. In my opinion the yeast is ...

Bottling at 2C. How much sugar to prime?

Just getting ready to bottle my first lager that has been sitting in the secondary at 2C. I don't want to bulk prime but want to bottle it to 740ml PET bottles. Due to the high CO2 at this temperature is 1 carbonation drop going to be enough? Or should I play it safe and let the secondary to come up ...

Re: Coopers Kit Saflager Yeast

Thanks for the info... that's why I have gonne for the saf-23 but what about the coopers lager yeast. Is it basicaly saf-23? And why they give you 7 gms when you would pitch at least 11.5? In their instructions they recommend to keep the temp between 11C - 18C, saf-23 optimal temp is 11C - 15C but ...

Coopers Kit Saflager Yeast

After reading this forum for the last couple of months I'm finnaly ready to ask my first questions. After four months of brewing ales I took the next step forward, bought a fridgmate and confiscated wifes chest freezer in the name of science and art. About a month ago I found a Coopers European ...
