Cheapest brew from me would be 2 cans of Woolies home brand (1x Lager & 1x Draught). cost $7.49 each on special primed with some raw sugar from the kitchen (again home brand) so lets say 50c worth and capped the bottles with Home brand caps, so for sake of argument lets say 50c again. So the total ...

Did this one about 6 weeks ago:

1.7 kg Coopers Irish Stout Kit (Brewmaster Selection)
1.5 kg Morgans Dark Liquid Malt
12g T-bag of Fuggles hops in primary
Yeast as supplied with the kit (rehydrated)
6 days primary then racked to secondry with another 12g Fuggles for about another 6 days. Bulk ...

Chris,

You never know until you try, but I would side with Pale_Ale. For me the artificial sweetner would put me off. A few years back I tried a commercial brew that was a lager style with ginger, quite nice for something different, I would guess that the fresh ginger would be the go.

Cheers for ...

Longrasser,

I'm with you on the pewter mug, although does detract from looking at the beer. But as you say keeps icy cold and helps with the head.

I know it,s a bit late for your trip, but perhaps next time? I the pub is called the International, it's located behind the St Andrews Hospital in Springhill. They have 4 beers that are brewed on the premises; here's a link to the website http://www.internationalhotel.com.au/micro-brewery.html I ...

Like Chris mentioned earlier, I find that 1 x Stout 1 x Dark Ale works a treat. I made one last year with the coca and it was good after about 3 months, but was bloody great after 12 months.

I'm a big fan of the swing top too. A mate managed to pick me up 2 doz at a garage sale for nix!! Then just last week my local BWS had a special on and they were going out the door for $2 each (with beer in) so grabbed another 2 doz.

Yup, that does seem to be the accepted wisdom regarding two cans but I do them often and they are never overly bitter. In fact, they're great.

As you rightly point out, most kits are bittered for the addition of 20-odd litres of water and 1kg of sucrose or dex (which are fully fermentable and add ...

My mate works in the rehab centre at a local hospital and he gets to talk to a lot of old blokes. Last week one of the old fellas gave him 180 or so old tallies (CUB, Pickaxe,XXXX). great score, as he passed them all on to me! Also while I was at my local HBS this week another old bloke called up to ...

Bugger it's not a Lilli Pilli after all

I have since found out that the tree is actualy a Acerola or Barbados Cherry. So that stuffs the name of this beer. After reading about the fruit and its vitamin content here: http://www.herbsarespecial.com.au/free-herb-information/acerola-cherry.html that this beer will be good for warding off the ...
