I made 3 lagers last winter 2 with saflager yeast and 1 with coopers Bavarian kit yeast. All of these frofthed up at bottling (used dex) and now even months after in the bottle they have a huge head, when you pour them, you can't fill a 375ml glass without half head. They all had a least a fortnight ...

Will give 2 drops a go in some and Dex in some to try. I am a bit lazy and time poor for bulk priming but keen to giove it a go. Going to do a Coopers brewmaster pilsner next and put most into glass as I am sick of PET brews going flat at 6months or so just when they are getting good.

Priming 680-700 ml bottles

I have come across some 680 -700 ml bottles that are crown seals, what i was wondering was, can you use carbonation drops in these or is that going to make the bottles explode!

I agree Paleman, I made a Coopers Bitter a year ago and had one the other day and was very impressed, smooth creamy and held head all the way down. Great winter beer or anytime. I made it just with a Brew Booster 5oog dex, 250g LDM, 250g Maltodextrin, I am no expert brewer and very simple so I think ...

Oliver or someone,
I was looking at number 50 brew and had a look at no. 51 Malt Shovel Pale Ale and was wondering did you use a standard 25lt Coopers fermenter to brew the 11.5ltr brew?

This is how i got hooked, i thought it was a great starting brew, simple and tasted better than commercial beer. I do use Coopers Lager now as a favorite regular but now play around with it and is pretty safe.

Brewing Fridge

I looked up the aldoheat site and saw the THF 0-40oC (brew/fridge). So is this all I need to put in an old sealable fridge /freezer that dose'nt need to work? And works well? Or go for wine cooler?

11.5 in a 25litre

I bought a Malt Shovel Brew can of Pale Ale (don't know why now i have seen reveiws) and was wondeding does it matter about making a 11.5 litre batch in a 23litre fermenter, does this have too much air space? I only want to try the one can and see what they are like. Any thoughts?

Saflager Yeast Q.

Thanks for all the replies. Cleared up the Saflager Q. The HBS was not my regular one that gave me the "half" advice. I will chuck all in in future.

Saflager Yeast Q.

Just brewed Morgans Golden Saaz Pilsner using Saflager yeast for 1st time. So I thought I would try Black Rock Lager with Saflager with the cool upon us. The guy at the HBS said only use half the Saflager yeast packet (11.5g). I used all in the pilsner. What is the right amount? Also what about ...

Honey in Beer?

Dogger,
Have not made stout yet, getting all ingedients together and waiting for some cooler weather. But looking forward 2 it. I am only a basic brewer to date so stout will be first to add other than kit.
