The GA is not an APA, never has been. It's an english style pale ale with american hops.
And American yeast and a grainbill that would map almost directly to the average homebrew APA recipe (if such a thing were able to be determined). Call it what you want but you're wrong.

Re: What will this end up being?
Both Android and iOS have brewing apps. I can't personally recommend any though. Someone else might like to vouch for one.
But brewing software, while often helpful and instructive, will not help you work out what style the recipe will make. The user needs to choose a style manually in these ...

Re: 2012 Xmas Lotto
I don't know how stridently it is enforced but I do know that it is illegal to send beer though regular mail in the US. Not worth the risk/effort, IMO.

Re: First AG = BIAB
if it was the case you wouldn't need to suspect it at all. The difference is immediately obvious. Could you see a large amount of whole grains amongst the flour?
Perhaps the BIAB equivalent of doughballs might be the answer? Easy to do.

Re: 2012 Southern Spring Lotto Draw
And the Golden Ale (clone) recipe is basically a bog-standard APA homebrew recipe. Both beers (GA clone and SW original) are pretending to be something that they are not (or, more correctly, both are pretending to not be something that they actually are).

The finer "crush" gotten from the blender will only increase your efficiency not reduce it. I'd look elsewhere. Perhaps a bucket sparge will help you out some?

My understanding is that a bright tank is usually used to hold filtered (i.e. bright) beer.

Re: Secondary Fermentation
What is the same thing that they all seem to say? My experience is that secondary fermentation is a polarising topic.
If by "bucket" you mean some plastic vessel that would be suitable for primary then it will be fine for secondary unless you want a really long secondary (as in over six months or ...

Re: Boxes
Ah. Then any box that'll hold the bottles will do, surely?
I largely use cat litter boxes. Don't judge me! They're strong and have built in handles. Stack comfortably regardless of bottle sizes contained.

Re: Hops
That is essentially a correct generalisation but (just to confuse you a bit when you've got a handle on it) many of my own favourite aroma hops are also very high AA%.
The above does not make any of your summary wrong, it's just another aspect to consider - and one that is not really appropriate to ...

But your logic works with a bit of tweaking, Mad Dog. Instead of leaving the late hops in longer you add them the at same time but use a greater amount of hops. But you'll need to use more than the amount you remove from the bittering addition. Can get a bit expensive and isn't suitable for ...

Re: whirlfloc and irish moss
I don't use an immersion chiller so I'll leave the before/after question to someone else, but I will say that once the convection currents die down is generally the earliest it is worth bothering to whirlpool. Have a look in the kettle and if you see that the fluffy, coagulated stuff is swirling ...

Perhaps you could try advertising these at www.aussiehomebrewer.com as well. I'm sure a great many blokes there would be interested in a natter, at the very least.

Re: Beer fizzing up when priming
Reading between the lines it looks like you're adding the sugar to the bottle after filling. Is that correct? Try putting the sugar in first and see how you get on.
