Re: Ginger Beer epic Fail

Thanks for that, looks like I will have to go with a kit. I understand what you mean about the alc content, I guess I should have said as low an alc content as possible. :)

Ginger Beer epic Fail

Hi, :D
I made a plant in a tall jar. About a cup and a half of cold water, some grated ginger, some powdered ginger, some white sugar and a little packet of ale yeast from my HB shop. It bubbled away nicely and I fed it every day with more ginger, more sugar and a bit more water. After a week, I ...

Sodium meta bi-sulphite

Hi all, I have about 8kg of SMBS, which unfortunately has got wet in the recent storms we've had here. I am trying to dry it out, not a lot of success so far as it's still pretty humid. My question is, is it still usable once it has been properly dried out? TIA. 8)

Brigalow Bitter....problem maybe?

Put down on the 27/4 with 1kg dextrose and 500g of light liquid malt, kit yeast and temp at 24 degrees. Starting SG 1050. Well it's been 11 days and I just now did a test and the FG is at 1020 and a LOT of floaties, some settled to the bottom of the tube and some still floating on the surface. What ...

Cider Query

Hi guys, I've had a go at a William Tell Cider mix, it's been sitting now for 18 days, the first week it went nutso but all quiet for the last week, I figure it's ready for bottling, I'm going to use the PET bottles that came with my Morgans kit, now the question is....do I need to prime the bottles ...

From correspondents in London
November 19, 2004

WATCH out Starbucks. British beermakers are wooing the caffeine-crazed with a new beer made from fair-trade coffee beans.

Coffee beans from the central African country of Rwanda are mixed with barley grown in ...

Coopers Bavarian Query

Put down on 24/10 with the kit yeast and a pack of Coopers Brew Enhancer #2, primary fermentation was 15 days before bottling and each bottle (grolsch x 42) primed with Morgans Drops (yeah I know they're probably crap but I wanted to use them up) I opened a couple last night (been sitting 13 days ...

Well thanks for the replies and the vote of confidence :) I must say that it has settled down and the stubbies have only a thin ring of sediment at the base. I think one of the secrets to this game is patience  I'll definately give the Coopers a try, thanks for the tip. Cheers Gusto

Bottling query, sediment, cloudy etc. etc etcetera ;-)

Greets to all from Lismore NSW :D
I made up my first brew this week, an Aussie Draught that came with a Morgan kit. I had no problems with the fermentation, I started last Thursday week and yesterday, 7 days later, the hydrometer is just into the green. I figure my alcohol % to be around 4.06 ...
