I've just started kegging and I sampled my first kegged brew yesterday (coopers wheat beer) and it was bloody good.
Now I want to know how to keep everything clean.
I've seen Five star cleaners designed for homebrewing but can't find it for sale here.
Thanks.
Grant.

I grabbed 2 cans and there was 1 left on the shelf, I grabbed 3 bags of be1.
The manager must be scratching his head, probably sold 1 can all year and now 5 have gone in one day.

Thanks NT, I'll try it with the draught then.
Cat, the best before is 17/3/07, so there not out of date. I think it was just a managers special. They also had coopers BE1 on special for $1.80. I bought them from the Jackson crt. Doncaster Safeway's.
Thanks,
Grant.

I have a can of coopers draught, BE1 and BE2.
What suggestions would you guys give on making a stout with extras I have on hand.
I was thinking of just using the stout and draught into 23litres and the yeast ...

Was just at the local bearing shop and they had 950cc bottles of SIP co2 gas bottles that cost around $30 and were disposable once empty.

And the regulator for it was $40.

I just cracked one, the egg smell is there, but isn't real strong.
But it is a really nice beer, considering how young it is I can see this one being spot on in three months.
Thanks,
Grant.

How long should i keep the bavarian in the bottle before opening?
Is 2 weeks to short?
I want to make a good impression on a alcholic friend and I'm a bit worried about the egg smell.
If 2 weeks is too short I won't give him any.
Thanks,
Grant.

I kept it simple so there was no extras that could've added to "fruity" taste.
This brew is the same as my first as it was in the coopers kit, and did have a slight fruity taste but nothing like the ones with the us56 yeast.
The brews I made with the us56 was a coopers draught and brewcraft ...

OK I've just put down a Coopers lager and a 1kg of dex, 18litres total and sprinkled safale US56 (18deg) on top.
I made this because it was the first brewI made and it was pretty good, the only difference here is the US56 and 18lt.
Hopefully there won't be any fruity tastes going on.

I'm using a non contact infra red thermometer and I think it's accuarate.
I'll try another brew at the lower temp and see how it goes, 16 deg pitch shouldn't be a problem this time of year.

I'm no expert but I've done 7 batches and the 2 that I used the us56 on have the fruity taste going and were pitched at 22deg.
I'm in Melbourne, I can post them to you if you want.
Knowing my luck you probably won't have a problem with them.
Thanks,
Grant.

I've made a couple of brews using the safale us56, and both have that horrible friuty homebrew taste going on.
I'm putting it down to the yeast.
Has anyone else had this issue?
I have 4 packets that are good until 3/07 if anyone wants them speak up!
Thanks,

2 can coopers draught

Just tried a bottle and it has mellowed out a fair bit.
It doesn't have anywhere near the bitterness it had a month ago, still is bitter though.
But at the same time there isn't a lot of flavour going on.
I will definitely use the yeast from a coopers pale ale bottle, I don't know if I'd do the 2 ...
