Free Bottles

I'm about to move, so to lighten the load I need to get rid of some longnecks.

I have approx 30 coopers crown seal bottles, approx 30 twist off longnecks and a few of the plastic coopers bottles. I think there is more than this, but it was all i could see at the moment.

I am giving them away, but ...

i have done couple of beers with a dry enzyme and i think the FG has ended up at about 1004 for one and 1002 for the other. from memory they were both in primary for over 21 days at 12C.

Even without the dry enzyme i dont think it would be ready to bottle after only 12 days at 11c. Have you taken ...

First Extract...

I will be doing my first extract beer this weekend and i think i have everything sorted.

The one question i do have is, should i strain the wort when adding it to my fermenter to get all the hops out? I have done a few hop boils in the past when using kits and never worried about straining, but ...

i'm glad to hear you say that about the malt shovel 2-row lager. i did it about a year ago and mine was really dark also. at first i thought i didnt measure my water properly (the fermenter i used only has a 23l line) but i must have. it does get better though. i finally had the last one about a ...

i don't know about your local supermarkets, but the coles near me - roselands, their home brew section has has probably decreased is size well over half in the last few months... all they have now is the coopers original range and they have all the coopers brew enhancers / malts etc. I don't know if ...

i prefer that type of airlock. they can be a bit of a squeeze to get past the rubber grommet, but the definately produce a better air tight seal.

i've done the cascade lager a couple of times and i remember some different smells also. i think the yeast they supply is a 'boheimian' lager/ale blend.

both have come out pretty good.

the coopers aust. pale ale with some extra amarillo is ripper. I boiled 15g for 20mins, then added about 10g when i racked. I think i also threw in some cascade somewhere along the line.

not the same as the coopers pale ale you buy, but still tops in my book. It comes out something similar to James ...

i;ve noticed that many of your smaller independant bottle shops (i.e not Dan murphys, liquorland and bws) still have the imported stella. i'm not sure if its just old stock, but its definalty better than the australian brewed version.

i have also noticed becks and hieneken are being brewed in ...

i have that same problem all the time- i never strain my hops.

Racking is definatley the best option, but before i racked, i obviously just bottled straight away - you just need to be a bit more careful when pouring into a glass.

on the subject of smaller plastic bottles, they can be a bit hard to find but but you can get 'Brewers Choice' ginger beer from coles supermarkets. you get cartons of 12 x 330ml (i think) for about 8 bucks.

They also have 1.5 litre bottles of ginger beer in brown bottles - fit two longnecks in for ...
