You need to get out more

Quite the opposite. These kits are not sold in home brew shops - e.g., AHB and Greensborough - as they undercut their own product, cetainly in price and quite possibly in quality. They are a supermarket line and most keen brewers don't buy supermarket kits. Coles ...

Hmmm... I like your conspiracy theory on Coopers and why they do what they do, but to me it's just that. Coopers kegs are cask conditioned (or keg conditioned), hence the sediment. I've never had one off tap that wasn't cloudy, so using your logic ALL their kegs are faulty.

What about weizens ...

I have seen these, they come with a bottle tree to so can hang your bottles to drain if you get a fancy one. I have never used them personally

Dogger

The bottle tree is a separate purchase, and a superfluous one. No need to drain bottles after rinsing.

I've been using the AHB bottle steriliser ...

So if Coopers MAKE the beer and they say it should be served cloudy (for whatever conceived reason), then just who is saying it should be served clear ?

And what about Coopers on tap ? Hasn't been left to settle long enough ?

Clarity is a rating point in beer judging. Ales and lagers should be ...

Coopers shouldn't be cloudy

Cloudy Coopers is a fault with serving. It should be served clear and this is easily achieved with a little care.

The only reason Coopers advertise 'cloudy but fine' is to make those cack-handed purchasers who haven't got a clue how naturally-gassed beer should handled and served feel that they ...

New Coopers kits

Was in Coles last week and noticed a new line: Coopers International Series with brew enhancers. Looked great - I bought Coopers Pale Ale kit and a 1kg packet of No. 2 Brew Enhancer. Total of $16 - a lot better than AHB enhanced kits. There is also a Bavarian Lager and a Canadian Blonde.

The label ...

Bottled it Friday

As it happens I bottled a batch of this a couple of days ago. It had been in the fermenter a month as I hadn't had time to get round to bottling it - it had settled out nicely and was crystal clear. I bulked-primed the 18 litres with 125g dextrose.

I had a slight variation on the recipe: 6 apples ...

With a name like 'Bohemian" I would assume it was a lager yeast, Bohemia being in the same general area of Europe.

Double-kit brew?

These days I steer clear of supermarket packs - in past years I found these made very ordinary beers.

Anyone tried using two cans of supermarket beer mix in a batch (with no extras)? It would be stronger but might also have some flavour, and would be cheaper than augmenting a kit with a brewpack ...
