Water Content?
Does anyone have the mineral content for Melbourne water?
Re: Fat Yak?
beercraft at richmond were finalising a kit for Fat Yak a month back when I was in there. I tasted it and it's pretty much Fat Yak!

Beer Haze - the morning after...
I poured a three week old brew last night and left a bit in the bottom of the glass in my study over night. This morning the haze has settled out almost completely. Is this something to do with a reaction to oxygen? How can I achieve the clear beer fresh from the bottle? My previous brews have all ...

Question about yeast...
I had plans to brew a dubbel today but G&G didn't have their type 4 kits done - Last week the guy told me they'd be done by Thursday, so Friday night I could pick one up... that scheme looked like a good one as I had to get my yeast starter going.
Now, I have a starter that I did on Monday night ...

Re: Making a Dubbel....
The first starter went well, formed a nice lump of yeast, not really a cake - more a pastry...
Just put the second LDME wort onto it and should have a real nice load of yeast ready for the weekend brew day! :D
I have to say, reading the forum and John Palmer's work you form an opinion this stuff ...

Making a Dubbel....
This will be my second brew. The first was a great learning curve and tastes great.
This time I'll be using a liquid yeast instead of dried and I'll be making a starter.
The yeast I'll be using is Wyeast 3864 Canadian / Belgian Style. As I'll be making a stronger brew will it serve me to do one ...

Re: PET Vs. Glass
Seeing as I'm in a pipe band... I'm thinking about putting a new trashcan in the bar for all the Carlton Draught bottles. Even though they're screw tops they seem a better option than PET to me.

PET Vs. Glass
A thought just popped into my head.
I've recently bottled my first batch and am waiting for it to be ready for testing in a couple of weeks. I put it into brown and green glass bottles. I got a bench capper donated to the cause so that's a bonus...

Maudite Clone
so, I just bottled my first brew and have learned a lot so far - jumped right in half-way and got a fresh wort kit from Grain and Grape and made an American Pale Ale (hopefully)... but I have a goal:

Re: Bottle Tops
Nice one guys!
I'm in a pipe band ( http://www.nunapb.com ) and after each band practice the bin has around 50 or so bottles in it so that makes things a lot easier on the pocket than it may have been otherwise!

Bottle Tops
Hi,
I'm new to the world of homebrew and before I launch into my first brew I wanted to know about bottle caps.
Do the crimp caps work on twist-top bottles as well as normal bottles?
Thanks,
Iain
