I have recently had three explode on me during the hot weather we had in November, reckon I better wear some protective clothing in the shed during Jan & Feb.
I'm pretty sure they weren't over primed but maybe I had bottled the brews a bit to soon, one of them I bottled in May the others in June ...

Re: What's that taste?
Hi Anna,
I’ve only been brewing again since February (after a 8 year absence) and started out just brewing Coopers and usually BE2 which all tasted fine at the time and then started to get more adventurous I did a Coopers Heritage lager using a 1.5kg tin of liquid malt extract and that was even ...

Hi Eddie,
I wouldn't always trust your air lock as a measure of whether your brew is fermenting or not, I have had a couple of occasions where the seal between the air lock and the grommet hasn't been the best and there fore there has been no activity in the air lock. It can be a bit disconcerting ...

Re: BE2 solid as a rock!
I haven't seen any BE2's that bad, a bit sticky on the out side of the box maybe but no problems with the mixture.
They seem very old to me and I would defiantly be taking them back to where you bought them from for a refund or exchange.
Hope you have better luck with the next lot.

Re: When to rack?
Thanks for the great response.
I think I will take your advise Warra after googling diacetyl rest, so I think I will need to bring it inside for a couple of days to bring the temp up, then take it back to the shed to finish before transferring to the secondary fermenter for a week before bottling ...

When to rack?
Hi all,
I am currently brewing an Oktoberfest style beer using a malt extract recipe and have purchased a second fermenter for the purpose of racking (or secondary fermentation) for the 1st time.
The brew is currently at 1020 after 8 days and had an OG of 1055, my expected FG is 1013 (approx) so ...

Hi guys,
Thanks for your input, DrSmurto that make sense about the dissolved gases and escaping once stirred.
I reckon I'll leave it go now for a another week before checking the SG again and see what its at then, besides I need to get another new Hydrometer as I am finding these to be a bit ...

Re: my beer has more bubbles then coke.
I had the same problem with that beer, I thought it was becauase I used normal sugar in the bottles.
I've been using Coopers brewing sugar (a dextrose and maltodextrin mix (not sure of %) in all my other brews and it seams to be a fair bit lighter on the fizz.
Hope this helps
Cheers

Stiring brew half way through
Hi all,
I have currently got on a brew consisting of two cans of Coopers lager & 750grms of honey. I had a sachet of the Thomas Coopers yeast that came with the pilsner that I’m using instead of the normal coopers yeast, the brew started with an OG of 1060.
The brew has been going along quite ...
