I'm smack in the middle of the N american continent. It usually hangs as -40C for a week or so in the winter and +40 for a bit in the summer with everywhere in between. Its pretty dry and lots of sunshine... sadly no surfing though :/ Lately its been around 0C, +/- 10. How about you?

Just 'cause I've got nothing better to do at work today, and in case anyone's interested, I've calculated the IBU's of the "supermarket" Coopers kit cans (for 23 L).

Mexican Cerveza = 14.6
Australian Pale Ale = 18.5
Lager = 21.2
Canadian Blonde = 22.8
Draught = 22.8
Real Ale = 30.4
English Bitter ...

Colour is not really a concern with me, and good to hear that the flavour from the hops in these kits will not pose much of a ploblem if I boil it up for say 45min.
I'll try one substituting the usual 1.5lt of light liquid malt, just to see how it goes.

Just bottled a version of this and i'm drinking it after 1.5 weeks, Its an absolute pearler.
My recipe:
- 1.7KG COOPERS STOUT
- 1.7KG COOPERS DARK ALE
- 2 X KIT YEAST
- 30g “EAST KENT GOLDINGS”(EKG) HOP PELLETS @ FLAMEOUT
- 100g BEWCRAFT CRACKED CRYSAL GRAIN (STEEPED)
- 500g DDME ...
