Re: Keg pressure and pouring pressure

Hi all
Have a question about pouring pressure.
I carbonate my kegs slowly over 7 days at 90kpa at 2 degrees and they come out spot on.
When I pour I use a pressure of about 20kpa. One issue I have is once I pull a couple of beers and let the keg sit for 20-30 mins before pulling another one the ...

Thanks for the replys.

Is there a particular style which candy sugar suits or can it be used in all styles.
I was thinking of it aiding in head retention and alc content without adding a heavy body to the beer.

Thanks

KEG is spot on...

The composition of the starter is probably different to the wort and the yeast will be going through an adaptive phase as they adjust and the yeast goes through an aerobic growth phase in this new larger medium. Eventually (16+ hours) the yeast will transition into the anaerobic ...

what did you build up the starter with? if it wasn't the same composition as the wort, the yeast has a little bit of adjusting to do.

I done the starter using powdered LDME and boiled water and pithed into the all grain brew I did so it may have a little adjusting ...

Bit hard to pick leakages as I only use 2 layers of gladwrap stretched over the fermenter held down with the o ring from the lid.
Gave up trying to get a reliable seal with lids and airlocks ages ago.
At he moment there is a small amount of foam the size of a 50 cent piece floating on top after 15 ...

Slow PA starter

Hello All

Well I finally finished my first all grain pale ale yesterday and all went incredibally smooth.
I had made a Coopers PA starter from a couple of long necks which was about 850mls in size 3 days ago. The starter was fermenting away quite well with a 20mmm layer of krausen on top so I gave ...

Some info I found which maybe of some use.

The key to storing grain is keeping it dry. Whenever crushed grain is left to sit around, it begins to take up moisture from the air. Most malts have a moisture content between 4 percent and 6 percent, and there are very few climates in the world that do ...

Gassing with soda stream bottles

Hi All

Just thought I would pose the question before I jumped both feet into kegging.

Can you carbonate kegs off soda stream bottles using an adaptor I have seen on ebay and if so how many kegs could be gassed before the bottle runs out.

I am assuming some people here would be using soda stream ...

Hi Guys
Well after drinking a couple of these and practically having froth come out my nose from trying to swallow it, I uncapped them all and let them sit under a wet cloth for 2 hours. (All foamed up to the point of over flowing).
I then recapped them and put back in the fridge.
Tried a couple ...
