I don't own anything called a 'good,' but I like that your tourrettte's makes you shout the word 'formula.'

Warra
would be more interested in your wheat beer recipe slash formula
Did you notice any hop flavor or aroma from that low level of hop input
Or was it more dominated by the yeast the 4-vinyl guaiacol result
Did it take long for your batch to clear and was the color a pale straw
Also how was the head retention, a good wheat beer was should be able to wear a collar and tie.
I have a soft spot for wheat brew my brother and a friend recently knocked out 200 litres
There formula was 60% wheat 40% pale and saaz hop and they used a new dehydrated yeast from mauri
Everyone that has sampled has commented on a very well balanced beer but I am disappointed with the head retention
May have to revisit the formula and try to get a better result
Ps funny how a good batch of wizen disappears quick
Thanks for your post

Speedie,
No recognisable hop flavour. Not aware that's part of the style?
Colour was very typical of a hefeweizen, a pale straw. Flavour reminded me strongly of Erdinger, balanced spice/clove with hints of banana.
The batch didn't hang around long enough to clear, but I quite enjoy the opaque look of a hefeweizen. From memory, the head on it was good, and lasted to the end of the glass.

By the way, I use WY3068 in all my hefeweizens, but might try WY3638 for my next one.

Yesterday I had one of the last longnecks of another batch of hefeweizen brewed in June 2010. If I don't disturb the yeast when I'm pouring, you could fool yourself into thinking it's a pils, it's that pale and clear.

Warra
One of the fellow brewers bought a counter pressure bottling gadget from bilchman engineering
Which we plan to use tomorrow
There is about 50 liters left of that wheat brew I mentioned previously that we plan to try to bottle using the gun
Pretty snazzy thing as it pushes co2 into the bottle to purge prior to filling
Hope that force carbonated brew holds its co2
Most of the other times that I have bottled from a keg there is far too much breakout of the gas so carbonation levels are down on what they should be
There is also about 200 liters of dry hopped 34/70 lager brew to bottle so it will be a busy weekend
Hope that all have a safe and happy weekend
Go saints

Well I can't see whats on ignore  but.... in the spirit I'll post this.

I LOVE La Fin Du Monde....

And I made a Belgian tripple recently in the same vain and I must say its just .........awesome!

4.1kg pill
320g Munich 1
70g Aromatic
400g white sugar

25g EKG @90
18G tettanang @45
11g Teetanang @10
7g corriander @5
7g orange rind @5
Whirlflock @15

Wyeast 1214
Pitched at 18 and fermented at 18.

Batch size 15L
OG 1077
90 min boil
mash temp 64
60 min mash

What a corker of a beer! Light and golden in colour, hits of citrus and cori with the spicy hops and brewed at 18 degrees a more subtle Belgian phenolic taste. I'll be making more soon. I must say though that the bottle conditioned versions are out doing the kegged versions at the moment. I kegged 10L's of it and bottles the rest just for comparison. Think I'll bottle the entire batch next time.
