I'd hardly call FG 1.008 sweet or neutral.

In most beers that would be considered dry, and in the case of this recipe, bone-dry.

latest yeast used was 2042 @ 10*C have used 2206 ditto.........different FG'S (1007 to 1011) don't seem to affect dryness...maybe my tastebuds?
are cornflakes flaked corn?

The two I've made finished at 1.011 and 1.013.
I don't think they were sweet.

Ah, you are brewing lagers, not the beer this thread is about.

But, 1.012 or below is where i would start thinking a lager is dry. I aim for ~1.012 when making pilsners.

Wyeast 2042 / Danish Lager is a good clean finisher and you're doing well to get it under 1.012 routinely. I'd agree with Doc and suggest that you've got a dry lager, especially if its under 1.010...
