Lager Time

Postby Wassa » Sunday May 23, 2010 9:37 am

Just put down a brew that I hope should be very tasty and hoppy.

1 can Tooheys special lager
300gm Dextrose
500gm Coppers dry light malt
15gm Hallertau at 15, 5, flameout & dry hopped
150gm Crystal allowed to infuse at 70 degrees for 30 mins
Pitched with S23

Will let you know how it turns out.

What are the Toohey's kits like? I often see them on special around here but I must confess I've never tried them... because they're Tooheys!

If you find they marry well with some extra hops and grain I might have to give them a go...

Lachy,

I've used them before and find them ok.

Having said that I find you have to use hops and also adding grian assists as well. Also, throw away the kityeast and use Saflageror another lager yeast.

My second ever brew was a Tooheys Special Draught that I added finishing hops and 200g of Crystal to. Still have two cases of it, if anybody wants them. Free to pick up in the Hawkesbury area of NSW.
