Hi All,

I 've recently been thumbing through Complete Joy again, and I was thinking of having a go at the Barkshack Gingermead. Anyone tried it?

cheers,
T.

I brewed BGM about 3 years ago, and as much as I enjoy Charlie Papazian, I won't be making BGM again. At least with the recipe in the book. The dextrose gave mine that cidery taste - maybe I didn't use a strong enough honey, I don't know. However, I might use it as a base to start from, maybe using XLT DME in place of the dextrose, adding more ginger, something like that.

Haven't brewed it, but have tasted it. It was 2 years old when I tried it, and it was fantastic. No cidery flavour. It was beautifully dry- like ginger brut.
