cider stopped fermenting early
i put a cider in the fermenter and the misses turned the heater off on it a day later now the thing has stopped
tried stirring it to get it to go again with no lucky what can i do?

Bringing the temp back up after your stir might help rouse the yeast.
What temp did it get down to?

have the heater back on it the temp is back up around 28
the temp got down to below 16

Yeah, that temp could very well have slowed your yeast right down.
When you say 28 degrees, is that the room or the fermenter? 28 is too high for your brew temp, IMO (don't know what yeast you're using of course but I doubt a cider yeast needs to get that high).
