Oh, look out. I did my first partial mash last night. It all went pretty well apart from the fact that it took a fair bit longer than I thought and I made a hell of a lot more mess. I used a grain bag to do put my grain in which I'm assuming you don't when you do a full mash. How the hell do you clean up afterwards ? Little bloody grain bits get everwhere. Probably just a matter of getting organised. All in all it was fun though.

Another question, albeit a stupid one (but as Mr Mackey says, there's no stupid questions, just stupid people). Well, one of the beers I made was a bock. It had a can (1.7kg), a kilo of dark LME, half a kilo of light DME and a one kilo grain bag (mixed). I thought this would send my OG soaring up past 1050 (which is good for a bock). Turned out 1044, and that's making only 20L. Me no understandy. Oh, and here's the stupid question, just how much would you expect to add (SG wise) using a kilo of grain ? I know it's a bloody broad question, but a bloody broad answer would be good ;)

Evo,

It all depends on the efficiency of your mash and sparge.

I know that is a bit vague but I am in Exams right now until the 7 th so I guess I can be vague.

Try this site as an answer

Dogger,

Same goes for all the formatting - you can either click to begin, type what you want and click to end, or do it the easy way and highlight the lot and hit the button to underline, bold, insert URL, etc.

Another thing I've noticed is that the URL has to begin with either http:// or www (or both), but can't begin with just the name of the site (theage.com.au), for instance, because as you can see, it don't work!

(By the way, I fixed the link above that was broken before I saw this post. Sorry Dogger.)

Cheers,

Oliver
