Guys,

i think this has already been covered, but i need to find a substitute for Belgian Aromatic Malt? is this similar to melanoidin malt? or is it something lke cara-aroma? its for a version of COOPS Sparkling ale i found in Clone Brews

for some reason, depending on the recipe, they refer to similar grains with different names... i found out that the closest substitute to belgian aromatic malt in Australia is melanoidin.... apparently you use it gram for gram in the recipe...

If you need to substitute a belgian aromatic malt that isn't pale, I'd recommend using Caraaroma...of course, Caraaroma is not pale so in that case, some melanoidin may be preferable. It depends on what's more important - copying the flavour characteristics or colour?
