Canberra water analysis

Postby Chris » Tuesday Aug 19, 2008 2:03 pm

This is driving me nuts! I cannot find a decent water analysis for Canberra.

The ACTEW one is near useless. Does anyone either (a) have a typical water analysis for Canberra, or (b) know the results for the following things:

pH
calcium
magnesium
sodium
SO4
chlorine
HCO3?

I think some members of the Canberra Brewers would have that info.

No-one seems to know, and ACTEW won't answer the phone. This is really irritating!

Tried that. The only thing seems to be this link, which is of no real use to me:

I'm one the case... managed to get through and told them i worked for CSIRO land and water and needed a water quality analysis pronto...

If you could tell me which susburb.. that would help... narrow it down a bit.. cos different areas get their water from different reserviours...

Ha... sprung... she asked what it was about... and i couldnt think of any excuse... so i said brewing...

she did wonder why someone from WA was calling abour canberra water too.... but she did say she would find out what she can about:

calcium
magnesium,
sodium,
total hardness,
sulphates,
chlorine, and
pH...

she also said that they would be ranges... so you'll need to get the average from the data when/if she sends it...

she also said if you were really worried about you water quality, maybe you should get it tested yourself... but screw that...

I did.

No, i didnt screw it....

I tested the water that comes out of the tap at my place as well as my rain water. Even did a few other peoples rainwater but since leaving CSIRO (best thing i ever did) i dont have access to the instrument (ICP-OES) anymore.
