Using BBQ charcoal

Hey guys, I wanted to know your thoughts on using BBQ charcoal ground up in the filtration of alcohol. The one i've got is Hotrox 100% charcoal with no additives or coal. I don't see how it could be any different except that its a hell of a lot cheaper.

Anyway charcoal is just the slang term for it its actually activated carbon which goes through a process with super heated steam something about 1000 degrees to make it good so prob give it a miss unless your making sausage vodka!
