Using BBQ charcoal

Hey guys, I wanted to know your thoughts on using BBQ charcoal ground up in the filtration of alcohol. The one i've got is Hotrox 100% charcoal with no additives or coal. I don't see how it could be any different except that its a hell of a lot cheaper.

not good..the charcoal is not food grade..buy the real stuff from your HBS

agreed, buy the real filter carbon its made especially for this use!!

Anyway charcoal is just the slang term for it its actually activated carbon which goes through a process with super heated steam something about 1000 degrees to make it good so prob give it a miss unless your making sausage vodka!
