The Bended Elbow

Been to a good pub, or bad, lately? Found a bar with a great selection of beer? Looking for a new local or somewhere to visit on holidays?

Don't know, could be.
The bigger companies are buying everything else out and popping up everywhere.

You've heard about what is happening in Newcastle with Tooheys and Bluetongue?

No, they are making deals with the bars in the area to sell them New at much lower prices if they sign a contract not to have Bluetongue on tap. And they make it VERY clear to the licencees that this will be withdrawn if they start stocking Bluetongue.

C'mon Rysa, let's get serious here.
It looks like a nice pub, but you choose to forget three important things.
The Security, the Service and the Smell.

There's a reason there's a facebook group called "I Hate The Bended Elbow Ballatat".
Actually, there's three... at least.

Concur, I'm on the wong side of 35

First I've heard of the Blue Tongue scam. They are aligned with Coca-Cola aren't they?

Back on track, Beer Judge, now that would look good on the CV.

Cheers

I am in the process of getting through all the recommended reading for the BJCP exam. Unfortunately a few of the books are out of print or very expensive so it may take me a while ;)

Was in Ballarat last weekend and walked past The Bended Elbow, I don't think it even looks like a nice pub, looks more like a brothell to me, and a shitty one at that. I ended up drinkin at the George

Hahaha, it used to be the westie nightclub from years back and no i never went there.
I still think it's piss funny that there's a group on facebook dedicated to hating it.

The George was always good, probably one of the only decent nightspots we have left now.

The Bended Elbow in Geelong is a great pub for varied beers.
Hence my interest in "grimbergen" which is a cracking drop, although at 9% you can't have too many.
In battle when victorious, you deserve beer.
In defeat, you need it.

No I dont like it the appearence puts me right off

If I am in Ballarat I prefer the wino and derro pubs in the district such as the Snake Valley Hotel and there are a few north of Ballarat the Swiss Mountain I think, The last decade Ballarat pubs have gone rather bland in town I prefer the North Star.
