Best Selection of Beers In Brisbane

Been to a good pub, or bad, lately? Found a bar with a great selection of beer? Looking for a new local or somewhere to visit on holidays?

Best Selection of Beers In Brisbane

Postby WSC » Wednesday May 28, 2008 12:52 pm

Anyone in Brisbane or visiting needs to check out the Platform Bar underneath central station (next to fihelly's bar)

They have an awesome range of beers both bottled and a good selection of different beers on tap that vary from time to time. I could list them but it would take too long.

They also have events like tasting and guest brewers I think give free tasting on a Tuedsay.

I throughly recommend it and it's about time Brisbane had something like this place!

Check it out and let me know what you think.

Do you mean the Platform Bar at Grand Central Hotel?

Awesome range??? I wouldn't say 13 beers is an awesome range, I can list 5 of the 13, wont take long....
Cascade Light?
Coopers Mid Ale?
Crown Lager?
Tooheys Extra Dry?
Pure Blonde?

These are described as Australian Premium and Crafted?

you need to use the sidebar slide on their beer menu to show the imported beers.

Geez Kev, you poor thing!! I thought bundy was far more advanced than Hervey Bay(well maybe not in the decent alcohol supply business), I was rapt when Dan Murphys opened here a few months ago and they actually sell some different booze other than xxxx gold, vb and the like.

One positive for the Bay...

Don't beleive everything you read on the internet. The site musn't be updated.

They have a good range of german wheats, the regular Belgiums and the biggest range of aussie craft beers I have seen to date.

Was at the platform bar on Friday night and enjoyed Dogbolter on tap, 3 Ravens Blonde and Knappstein Reserve Lager.

That place is heaven!

I will need a second job as $8 odd a stubbie is a bit rich for me.

I finally went to the Platform after getting an invite to the International Brewers Day celebration.
Have to say they do have the good beer, but as you say, its a bit spendy.
Its a nice place for a one or two beer visit though. I don't think they bother to update the website, but they do regularly update the chalkboards!
Last Friday arvo they had some Duke Hefeweizen and Mt Tamborine Moderation Ale, and both were quite good. Left for the Brewhouse at 3 though as pints are only $6.50.... easier on the budget.
