Ferment carbonation in corny kegs?

Hello,
I'm thinking about getting a couple of small cornies for a party set up. One of my mates is actually thinking about buying one himself for me to chuck brews in. Are they alright to ferment in to carb them? I was thinking about dispensing with bulbs.

Edit: Never mind, just saw the Free CO2 thread. Whoops!

Another option to fermenting in the keg is to just prime the keg as you would with bulk priming. That way you're not going to have all that trub in the bottom of your party keg, which no doubt will get shaken up whilst it's being transported to parties and such.

Bit of a brain fart there, but priming is what I meant. How did I forget it? :?

That's what I was trying to say. It seems a pretty low cost entry into kegging that I can add to later so I reckon it could be worth a go.

Definitely. I haven't primed kegs (I force carb) but I'm told by a mate that does that you don't want to add as much priming sugar as if you were bulk priming for bottling. No idea why but apparently he started off doing that and the result was massive over-carbonation. I'll have to check with him but I'm pretty sure he only uses about 120g of dextrose for higher-carb styles (APA's, etc) and they come out well.

Also, consider a soda-stream bottle for your dispense. Bulbs could be expensive as you'd need quite a few of them to pour a whole keg, I would think.

Beerbelly reckons 1 bulb will dispense 1=a 19L corny.
