kegging

Postby tommo » Sunday Sep 18, 2005 10:15 am

seems there is less and less time for bottles nowadays ( is that a word ) so it's time to go Keg or go home.

Been quoted $490 for the following. ( one and only HBS in town )
2 19lt kegs
1 gun
1 guage ( not harris )
connections, lines.

Had a look on eBAY, Country Brewer, Grumpys etc. No joy really.

Would appreciate any links in Qld to another supplier.

cheers

Tommo

Thats a bit steep.

Try and find a used CO2 Cylinder, I have one which is a rebuilt extinguisher 80 bucks

Go with the rebuilt kegs or buy used ones and replace the gaskets yourself 40 bucks

Keg Fittings and hose 20 bucks

Tap 40 bucks

Regulator 80 bucks

Thats about 260 bucks. Say 300 all in

then factor in the exchange rate between Doggers magic dollar and John Howard's monopoly crap, and oh yeah still a bit steep!

Maybe $400 AUD would be ok!

Tommo,
I know that you said that you've checked on ebay, but there's a bloke who seems to sell quite a lot of stuff from Newcastle (NSW).
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Complete-home-br ... dZViewItem

The kegs like this one go for around $80.00
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/19-litre-post-mi ... dZViewItem

He has packages with all pipes, regulator, taps, new seals and two kegs, they seem to go for around $400.00. You'd obviously need to pay postage etc, but gives you a bit of an idea for cost.

Regarding CO2 gas you can hire them for 1year (BOC) for $100-120, or buy one for $280, which over three years pays for itself.
Cheers

Hey Tommo,

Mayfairs up here (Townsville) have starter kits from $350.

here's their listing, I imagine they'll ship no worries.

I believe this is for BOC rent a bottles, not soda stream ones, though they have the adaptor there for $35
