is there a cheaper way to get gas for kegs than renting it ?

is there a cheaper way to get gas for kegs than renting it ?

well my question is.. that it costs 100 dollars a year to rent a gas bottle from BOC or AirLiquide. Does anybody have their own bottles that they give it for a fill up when empty?

To me that is rougly 2 dollars a day and a refill that costs around 35 dollars... I was thinking if any place sells gas bottle and i can pay a one off fee and refill it as it empties and check it once every couple of years or something like that?

anybody has any ideas? much help will be appreciated.

thank you

My local homebrew store just got in some stock of CO2 bottles for purchase. THe bottle cost $281 and was $25 bucks for a refill I think. Look around in the yellow pages, obviously there are places that provide the service that you are looking for.

It's a Brewer's choice affiliated shop, Western Suburbs Homebrew. I think all of their shops are in QLD.

Ummmm... I've had an account with BOC for over a year now and haven't had a bill yet. Each time I go in to get a new bottle I ask if I owe them any more money and the guy says no. So I'd suggest an account with them :)

BTW, if anyone out there works for BOC, my name isn't really Evo. It's John, John Smith.

I bought mine used from the local fire fighters. So I got a 20 lb cylinder for 80 bucks and then each charge costs 10 bucks, I get about 25 to 30 batches on a cylinder

Two dollars a day?

$100 per year plus a refill that would last at least a year = $135 = 37 cents per day.
