Gasing one keg while using the other

Well i have found that gasing a keg for 3 days makes my drinking of the already gassed keg a bit difficult.

How have others gone about this.. i was thinking a second regulator was required. Is there another way that i am missing?

If you are gassing at the same pressure as pouring then you can just have a ss (or brass) T piece one in from the reg, one out to pouring keg, one out to gassing keg. I have 3 connected up , 2 to taps, and one gassing in the background, all at about 12 psi; that required 2 T pieces for the gas line and 3 disconnects.

Yes there is you can gas a keg in about 5 - 15 minutes using the method in my post in this thread http://www.homebrewandbeer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=34&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=gassing&start=20

The carbonation chart is hard to read in this post so here is a link to one, it is in Fahrenheit though.

Naturally carbonate your kegs, problem solved.

Cheers fellas..

from your calculations, if i chill the keg first.. i only need the pressure at 100kPa which is almost pouring pressure. Therefore a simple T-piece is all that is required to connect both. I can live with pouring at a slightly higher pressure.

4 deg C... 2.6 Carbonation... = 100kPa

So i presume that when the gas stops moving while charging, using your info, the keg is charged. Let it sit for a couple of hours. Then drink.

Warning: Another newbie question :)

Is natural carbonation just like carbonating beer in the bottle: ie if I primed my beer and put it into a keg and sealed would it carbonate like in a bottle

(so the only thing you achieve by artificially carbonating the keg is you save time???)

true MHD, I tend to naturally carb my kegs these days! Takes about 3-4 weeks, just like a bottled brew. I dissolve the dex in a cup of boiling water, chill and place in keg, then rack beer from secondary onto keg, seal and leave!

IMHO the result is a better brew! Did a test on a double batch of Coopers Aust Pale, forced carb on keg and natural on other, everyone whose tasted agrees natural is a better drop!

that natural carb is interesting..

I have a spare keg floating around, so i may try it with as you mentioned two identical brews and compare em..

i will obvioulsy require co2 to pour with.

yep still need CO2 to pour, but your gas bottle will last heaps longer!
