Kegerating on a budget (with limited space)

The ins and outs of putting your beer into kegs.

Postby Anzac Cookies » Monday Sep 18, 2006 3:30 pm

The guy i purchased the kegs from can be contacted via email

thesignman2 at msn dot com. Tell him that Anzac Cookies put you onto him, he should look after you. :D

I spent about 3 months looking for a freezerless fridge, i found a couple of new ones, but couldnt find any second hand ones. If you are after a new one, i could sift though my internet explorer favorites and find some models if that would help. I will also find the Beer font guys details also (from USA) cos they are dear as poison in Australia.

Just got my kegs today.
Got no reply from the bloke you put me onto so I decided to buy
off a bloke in Queensland.
Cost me about $250 for 4 delivered to Werribee.
Will post some pics over the next week of my set up.
AC how did you go with your kegs did they arrive yet?
Cheers

Yeah Reg they did arrive. The poor blokes Dad was diagnosed with cancer so he went to visit him. The postage slip showed that he posted them when he said he did and he offered me a partial refund for the delay. He also included some hose and 4 disconnects. I now have 4 x 18 litre and 3 x 11 litre kegs. Geez, i'd better get cracking cos i only have an Aussie Pilsner on tap atm, been too busy  Looking forward to seeing your set-up too, i had a ball designing and making mine. My first beer that i tried to pull looked like it came out of a Marshmalllow factory. I finally got it right

I tried to source 11 litre kegs but found them extremely hard to find.
And then when you do find them they cost arms and legs.
The best spot to look would be the US ebay site but it may be like trying to find hens teeth.

I bought one from here http://www.beertech.com.au/shop/catalog ... a7acfb5370 which cost me $165 delivered, but i though it was a new one, when i received it i had to put a new seal kit through it just to add insult to injury. I contacted the Shop and told them how disappointed i was as the description didnt mention second hand and if i knew that thew were second hand and not refurbished that i would have never bought one. I didnt even get e reply, they just slyly changed the description to say S/H. Anyway enough rambling, i got the other 2 from Ebay, for $100 each with new seals, the guy was selling 4 of them and luckily i got 2. I will keep a look out for any more and will post if i come across any. :D

Check out

http://www.craftbrewer.com.au

Not affiliated but a very happy customer. Kegs, regs, ingredients and all sorts of things too many to mention; at a price that cannot be beaten.
Kegs $70 each or two for $60 each.

Humble or not, it looks like it's in a good position. I bet you wouldn't have to walk as far as most of us to get a refill.

For those trying to find a fridge without a freezer, I got lucky in that my wife wanted a freezer and came across a "pidgeon pair" on ebay, which is an individual fridge and freezer standing next to each other. It was only about $50 more than she wanted to pay for a freezer, so she got the set. I had given up on home brewing from bottles a couple of years ago and it wasn't until I picked them up and wondered what to do with the fridge that my mind started to tick.... So I'd recommend doing a search for "pidgeon pair" every now and then and see what comes up.
