Strange taste from keg

Postby fridgeman » Thursday Dec 07, 2006 9:49 pm

Hi all. Got such good advice last time thought I would ask again about another problem that I am having. Made a coopers real ale by a recipe from the site and came out fantastic. Problem is the keg I put it in has made a mettalic taste through the beer that has got to the stage of being unbearable to drink. This is the third brew that has gone into the keg and all the others have ended up with the same taste. Has anyone experienced this in a stainless keg before and is there anything I can do about it. None of my other kegs have finished up like this and I will be very dissappointed if I have to ditch it as it is a fifty litre. Cant remember who the recipe came from for the real ale but I am telling you it is so good that even the wife was drinking it before it went pear shaped.

Recipe was 500g light LDME
500g DDME
40g fuggle hops 20x20
1x coopers real ale
250g dried corn syrup

Highly recommended still have some in bottles thankfully
Hope you all can help

Some more info required: -
1. How do you clean the keg
2. What cleaning / sanitizing agents used
3. Do you have a gas manifold and has any beer leaking out of the keg into the gas line
4. When was the last time you cleaned the taps?

Cheers
AC
