Tool to remove Corny keg valves?

Postby rwh » Thursday Feb 01, 2007 3:46 pm

Hi all, I've got a Corny keg that I want to replace the seals on. What tools do I need to get the valves off? The gas IN valve has a weird star shaped nut that needs to be unscrewed, and the beer OUT valve has a standard nut, but the handles obstruct my shifter so I can't use that...

Also read about using a long socket but haven't had a great deal to do with kegs myself only through my brother in law. :?

7/8 inch ring spanner for the star shaped looking one. The other ones are 11/16. Well, on my corny's so far.

I have 9 kegs and they all have the same fittings. As gregb said, a 7/8 combination spanner is the go. The ring end will do the gas post while the beer post can be done with either end of the spanner.
There is no such thing as bad beer. There is only good beer and better beer.

I just use a set of vice grips.

A deep star socket from AutoPro for $10 and you're up and running...
