Filtering and Kegging Beer

Postby Dogger Dan » Monday Mar 14, 2005 6:18 am

Ok

Sorry guys I am bringing two threads together here, the first being filtering beer, the second can you fit Corny kegs in a bar fridge.

I posted some pics of my system for both filtering and kegging (two pages folks).

Grab, let me know if you have any more questions. If you go the cartridge route, let me know how you make out, I have never given that pony a ride.

If anyone else needs anything answering or sees a smart idea I missed, let me know.

Cheers Dogger,

great snaps, after a few phone call this morning and a hunt of the net I'm going to try a single cartridge setup as used for household drinking water using a 1 micron pleated sediment filter in the cartridge. This filter is cleanable/scrubbable and good for apparently over 100 uses. I'll set by syphoning brew into 1st keg, placing filter on beer out side and runing into inlet on 2nd keg. Then by using dispensing pressure onto 1st keg and opening relief valve on second beer should flow.

If I can get enough height it should also work as gravity feed from fermenter, just be a slower process!!

Any thoughts guys!! :?

To get a real clear beer, go with a 0.5 Micron Absolute filter, more costly yes, but a better finished product.

Nah, do it all the time with my brews.
I've got a 45Lt Corny keg that I rack into after secondary, then thru filter (usual house water type) into 19Lt keg, burp, fridge with gas on, and enjoy :D 2 days later

With the 0.5 micron filter it is more expensive up front but cheaper in the long run to get a back washable filter, you will get more life out of it.
